Abstract

The formation of a hydrogen bonded complex C5H 5NO-C3H4O5(I) with 2-pyridone by tartronic acid was made. The cations and anions were linked with hydrogen bonds to form a hydrogen-bonded chains. An intermolecular hydrogen bond was formed between a carboxyl group attached to the central C atom. It was observed that no hydrogen bond was formed between the carboxyl and carboxylate groups.
