Abstract

A 63-year-old woman was referred to our institution with a diagnosis of a cancer of unknown primary peritonitis. A gastric submucosal tumor was recognized in the antrum. EUS-FNA was performed for pathogical diagnosis. Based on clinicopathological and immunohistochemical features of the tumor, we diagnosed the tumor to be a primary peritoneal cancer. We began chemotherapy combination of paclitaxel and carboplatin every four weeks. This therapy is the standard chemotherapy is the standard chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. She had remained in CR by the time she finished six courses. In women, there is also a possibility of primary peritoneal cancer included in the unknown cancerous peritonitis. We think EUS-FNA is useful for making histological diagnosis of gastric submucosal tumor.
