Abstract

In a surgical operation, the method of operation is predetermined based, in part, on the results of various kinds of tests such as X-ray photographs and CT scans. There are some cases such that undetectable conditions of the diseased part may be somewhat different from the expected one. It is desirable to support the doctor by specialists outside the operating room to manage the difficult situations. This paper describes a proto-type of the remote support system of surgeon. It is composed of (1) a Web camera with a laser pointer and a personal computer with TV conference function and (2) an interface system to remotely control the Web camera by the specialists and to make TV conference with the surgeon.
