Abstract

This paper presents a study on the deveopment of digital image processing and photogrametric algorithm for crack behavior monitoring. In the measurement technique using our algorithm proposed here, the deformation of the crack is calculated from one piece of image taken from an arbitrary camera position. In our developed method, reflective targets are established at the measurement points around the crack as gauges and the two dimensional displacement of the crack width, which are tensile and shear displacement, is calculated based on the coordinates of the reflective targets. In this paper, experiments were performed to measure the relation between the distance and angle of photographic positions from the targets, and we verify the accuracy and precision of the measurement algorithm.
