Abstract

This paper proposes a trellis-coded 16-QAM receiver with virtual channels for overloaded MIMO systems. A joint decoding is applied to the decoding for performance improvement. We propose a complexity reduction technique for the joint decoding with assistance of a linear filter applied in each virtual channel. The performance is evaluated by computer simulation that the proposed receiver achieves a gain of 3dB at the BER of 10-3. The proposed complexity reduction technique reduces the computational complexity of the proposed receiver to about 1 over 1/50 of that of the MLD.
