Abstract
We report the case of adrenal ganglioneuroma with elevated urinary HVA and 131I-MIBG scintigraphy uptake. A 16-year-old woman visited our hospital with strong abdominal pain. Though computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a left adrenal tumor (4 cm × 4 cm × 7 cm) which was considered to be an adrenal ganglioneuroma, this tumor showed metabolic activities (scintigraphy and urinary HVA). We therefore were unale to confirm a diagnosis preoperatively and a decision regarding operation method became quite difficult. The patient finally underwent left adrenalectomy without nephrectomy, and the tumor was diagnosed as ganglioneuroma.
