Abstract
A new method was developed to prepare composite of CaCO3/activated carbon under the condition of atmosphere by one step, in which Ca(CH3COO)2 and ZnCl2 were adopted as activation agent. The prepared composite was characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM, showing that CaCO3 particles were loaded on the activated carbon with multi-porous structure, moreover the composite had high specific surface area of 324~846 m2/g. The final sorbent was used for phosphorus removal, and the results showed that the hybrid containing 1.5% of CaCO3 had the highest absorption rate of 1.76 L/mg, while the largest adsorption capability was 3.21 mg/g when the sorbent contained 2.0% of CaCO3. The absorption process fit Langmuir isotherm model well, which indicated that the process was monolayer adsorption.
