Abstract

Pairing-based cryptography is one of the popular cryptographic techniques for achieving safety and usability. Since a pairing computation has a complicated calculation, an efficient implementation is required for its practical usefulness. For this purpose, we investigate curve parameters to optimize Miller's algorithm using a projective coordinate and so that the computational cost of the doubling step of Miller's algorithm can be conducted efficiently. The proposal method is applied to the ELiPS pairing library and it is found that the execution time becomes slightly faster than the previous ones with the parameter that can ensure the 128-bit security level.
