Abstract

Anchorage mechanism of bolts is clarified through an experimental program and a numerical representation tor grouted rock bolts is proposed. This model is then applied to simulate rockbolts in the analyses of pull-out tests and their reinforcement effects on discontinuous rock pillars and a tunnel excavated in a weak rock formation and the results of the analyses are compared with the actual measurements. The analyses have shown that the proposed model is capable of simulating the bolts and enable one to evaluate the reinforcement of bolts quantitatively.
