Abstract
We present a case of bilateral synchronous ureteral carcinomas. A 72-year-old Japanese man presented with macrohematuria. Intravenous urography showed bilateral ureteral tumors. Ureteroscopy showed bilateral ureteral polypoid tumors. The biopsy specimen of the right tumor suggested transitional cell carcinoma, whereas the left side suggested a benign tumor (Inverted papilloma). Bilateral partial ureterectomy was carried out with the flank approach. Histological findings demonstrated bilateral grade 1 transitional cell carcinomas. Bilateral synchronous ureteral carcinomas are rare, and we summarize the previous cases in Japan in this report.
