Abstract

The magnetic-field dependence of the spin-Peierls gap in a CuGeO3 single crystal has been studied by means of inelastic neutron scattering with and without polarization analysis. We have clarified the excitonic nature of the singlet-triplet transition in the spin-Peierls system.
