Abstract

The coordination structure of VIV ions in the mixed-solvent systems of HCONH2 and HCO2NH4 has been investigated using EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure) method for the V K-edge. VIV ions exist as vanadyl ions (VO2+) and form distorted [VO(HCO2)x(HCONH2)5-x] 2-x(2 ≤ x ≤ 5) octahedra with one short V - O bond length of ca. 1.63 Å and five V-O bond length of ca. 2.07 Å in the HCONH2-HCO2NH4 system.
