Abstract

We proved that pleural nodules of sarcoidosis are distributed predominantly at the costal pleura than mediastinal pleura in CT. Also in histological study using the autopsy lung, the number of lymphatic vessels of costal pleura was greater than that of mediastinal pleura. Functional lymphatic flow by breathing is major factor of lymphatic drainage of lung. And we considered the difference of histological distribution of lymphatic vessels between the costal and mediastinal pleura would also affect the distribution of benign pleural disease.
