Abstract

A rhodium-catalyzed cyclization reaction of 4-acyl-1-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles possessing a phenyl ring is reported. Generated acceptor/acceptor carbenoids undergo cyclization by reacting either with a phenyl ring through electrophilic aromatic substitution or with a benzylic CH bond through insertion depending on the length of the carbon chain.
