Abstract

In this report, a novel composite for a soft-tissue-compatible material was developed. A surface of polyester was modified with nano-sized hydroxyapatite (HAp) crystals through covalent bonding. The cell adhesion on the HAp/polyester was more plentifully compared to the non-coated materials in vitro, and confirmed cell spreading earlier as well as monolayer in vivo. The interface of a graft implanted in dogs was evaluated by histological observations.
