Abstract
18F-FDG PET/CT examinations are useful for the diagnosis of cervical lymph node metastasis. In this study, PET/CT was found to have a sensitivity of 73% and a specificity of 79%. Since inflammatory lymph nodes sometimes manifest false positive FDG findings, we should therefore carefully examine patients with cervical lymph node swelling and consider the anatomic location of both the primary lesion and cervical lymph nodes. Other morphological imaging modalities (CECT, MRI) may therefore also be necessary to obtain more precise anatomic information.
