Abstract

The effect of aluminium addition on the piezoresistive effect of silicon carbide ceramics was examined. The theoretical density was obtained using the rule of mixtures. Measurements of the bulk densities of the hot isostatic pressing (HIP)-sintered specimens were performed by Archimedes method using deionized water as the immersion medium. The temperature dependency of the piezoresistance coefficient was found to be large in silicon carbide with a large amount of added aluminium.
