N2 - A new cleaning method of the dielectric kerosene for EDM by using electrostatic cleaning is proposed. Not only debris but also the water content in the dielectric can be removed by this method. EDM characteristics are compared using new kerosene, conventionally-filtered, and electrostatically-cleaned in order to attain high precision EDM. Experimental results show that the discharge gap and the surface roughness using electrostatically-cleaned kerosene are smaller than those using other types of kerosene under finishing conditions.
