Abstract
Characteristics of Ca2+-binding on the plasma membrane of barley mesophyll cells were studied by a microelectrophoretic method. The results indicated that Na+ ions could cause nonspecific reduction but not specific reduction in the total amount of Ca2+ bound to the plasma membrane of (salt-tolerant) barley mesophyll cells.
