Effect on sleep improvement by oral administration of functional barley BARLEYmax (Tantangara)

Abstract

Objectives: A controlled before-and-after questionnaire study was performed on 18 adults with trouble of insomnia to examine the effects of short bar incorporated in BARLEYmax (Tantangara) on sleep improvement. Methods: Subjects were given short bar incorporated in 12 g/day of BARLEYmax for 4 weeks. After intake, sleep quality was measured by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Results: Subjects with intake of more than 12 g/day of BARLEYmax showed a significant effect on sleep improvement. Conclusions: Intake of short bar incorporated in more than 12 g/day of BARLEYmax serves for improving sleep to subject with trouble of insomnia.
