Abstract

In recent years, a variety of IoT devices are connected to the Internet, which allows us to make our lives more convenient. LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) network enables data transmission over long distances with low power consumption. In this research, the authors focused on Sigfox, which is a well-known LPWA. However, since information on the traffic is easily eavesdropped, a countermeasure for this point would not be ignorable. Elliptic curve is suitable for IoT devices with limited computing resources because of its strong cryptographic strength with a short key length. In this research, we conducted experiments to create a shared key using Sigfox communication and elliptic curve cryptography. Also, this paper discusses improve the efficiency of computation on elliptic curves.
