Electron tunneling study on superconductivity of (Li0.65Na0.35)0.9Mo6O17

Quasiparticle tunneling measurement has been carried out for a single crystal of (Li0.65Na0.35)0.9Mo6O17 through the point contact with Al electrode. The observed energy gap is consistent with the BCS value and the shape of the tunneling density-of-states confirms the intrinsic origin of the occurence of the superconductivity in the present compound. The result supports the idea that the same electron system exhibits two conflicting phenomena, the superconductivity and the sharp resistivity upturn above Tc with decreasing temperature.
