Abstract

Electrooxidation of alcohols in a disperse system with N-oxyl-immobilized silica gel as a disperse phase and an aqueous NaBr/NaHCO3 solution as a disperse medium proceeded smoothly to give the corresponding carbonyl compounds. The N-oxyl-immobilized silica gel 1 was prepared by silane-coupling method. Recycling of both the aqueous solution and the N-oxyl-immobilized silica gel 1 was performed successfully.
