Abstract

Multiple superconducting gap in MgB2 was studied using high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy. A coherent peak with a shoulder structure was observed in sharp contrast to that expected from a simple isotropic-gap opening in the superconducting spectrum measured at 5.4 K. Through temperature dependent study both the gaps were found to close at the bulk transition temperature.
