Abstract

We evaluated the efficacy of percutaneous bladder neck stabilization (PBNS) for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence. From September 1996 to July 1997, 7 patients (mean age 59.0 years) were treated for type I or II stress urinary incontinence using VESICA(TM) kits. The procedure was successfully performed in all patients without encountering any intraoperative trouble. No major complications were observed. Mean follow-up was 12.9 months. Six patients are continent, however 1 patient demonstrated recurrence after 5 months. This procedure is safety and easy to learn. Continued follow-up will be necessary to determine the long-term efficacy of this procedure.
