Abstract

The electron structure of Cd6Ca quasicrystal was investigated by using high-resolution ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy (UPS) and Ca 2p-3d resonant photoemission spectroscopy (RPES). The Ca 2p-3p resonant photoemission spectroscopy demonstrates that the low-lying unoccupied 3d levels of calcium were lowered below the Fermi energy. Ca 3d-partial denstity of states (DOS) in terms of on-resonance minus off-resonance were also presented. The results from the partial d DOS shows unconventional picture that the origin of the pseudogap in the Cd-based quasicrystals (QC).
