Abstract

The quench current characteristics of a high Tc superconducting coil wound with Bi-2223/Ag tape, impregnated with the epoxy resin and cooled by liquid nitrogen, were presented. The tests were conducted for the AC transport current with different frequency and amplitude. It was found that the quench current tend to decrease with an increase in the frequency of the transport current while the AC losses increased with the frequency and amplitude of the transport current.
