Abstract

In recent years, during the large-scale construction of road and rail, mining, hydroelectric power station, transportation and other construction projects, a lot of slope stability problems have been encountered. Rock slope instability or landslide, one of three natural disasters, endangers the safety of state properties and people's lives seriously. This paper presents a detailed study of high rock slope failure mechanism using manifold method. Combining the deterministic and stochastic features of fractures from the field data set, a three-dimensional fracture model of high rock slope is constructed and the rock blocks and their volume are automatically calculated. In this paper, rock slope failure process is also investigated. A new predictive approach of high rock slope stability has been established based on the numerical simulation results and real monitoring data, which provides the guidance for avoiding or alleviating the rock slope instability disaster.
