High-sensitivity humidity sensor composed of optical fiber coated with sol-el derived porous silica

Abstract

We fabricated a humidity sensor by connecting single-mode-multimode-single-mode fibers and coating the sensing part with sol-gel derived porous silica, achieving a high sensitivity (0.748 nm/% at 0.4% relative humidity) and quick response.
