Abstract
Recently, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) has been spreading in use and is now accepted as the first choice of treatment for urolithiasis. However, there is a considerable number of patients who are unable to receive ESWL because of their various complications. Two bedridden patients with vesical stones were treated with home irrigation therapy. Vesical stones were completely dissolved in one case and were partially dissolved, followed by spontaneous discharge when the catheter was exchanged, in another case. Since our life span is getting longer, there is an increasing number of patients with urolithiasis who are unable to receive ESWL or surgery because of their bedridden condition. This method is recommended for such patients in order to improve their quality of life.
