Abstract

Homo-coupling polycondensation of aromatic compounds bearing two (trimethylsilyl)ethynyl groups mediated by copper(I) chloride in DMF gives conjugated poly(arylenebutadiynylene)s in up to 94% yield with molecular weight of 4000-8900 (Mw/Mn = 1.78-2.09).
