    Abstract

We evaluated intravenous administration of Diltiazem for prevention of angiospasm during super selective abdominal arteriography in 58 patients. As a control group, 55 patients who were performed superselective abdominal arteriography without administration of Diltiazem were prepared. The incidence of angiospasm was 25.9% in the patients with administration of Diltiazem and 54.5% in the patients without administration (Chi Square Test, p < .05). The degree and the location of angiospasm were not different between the two groups. Guidewire manipulation mainly caused angiospasm in both groups. We concluded that intravenous administration of Diltiazem was useful for prevention of angiospasm during superselective abdominal arteriography.
