Abstract
Insufficient management of hepatitis virus carriers at non-hepatology departments was reported. We introduced intensive management system for HBV and HCV infection in electronic medical chart, and clarified the efficiency of this system to manage hepatitis virus infection in hospital. This system consisted of alert on chart with positive results of hepatitis virus infection, and notification forms to explain the results and necessity of further examination of the liver. Reviewing the charts of the subjects with positive results between April 2013 and March 2014 showed the results were explained by the attending doctors to 23.1% of the subjects, and alternatively by mailing notification forms to 65.5%. Half the subjects visited our hospital for further examinations of the liver. Two cirrhotic patients and one patient with hepatocellular carcinoma were newly diagnosed among those with positive anti-HBs. Our results revealed this intensive management system is useful to manage hepatitis virus infection in hospital.
