Abstract
Phytochemical investigation of the root bark of Tamarindus indica afforded n-hexacosane, eicosanoic acid, β-sitosterol, octacosanyl ferulate, 21-oxobehenic acid, (+)-pinitol, apigenin and vitexin. The presence of the bioactive compound (+)-pinitol in this plant is being reported for the first time.
