A case of retroperitoneal laparoscopic tumor resection for malignant lymphoma in the Gerota's fascia is reported. A 55-year-old man had been suffering from dizziness during the previous 1-year period. A biopsy of the right palpebral conjunctiva with little palpations was performed and a histological diagnosis of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma was made. A biopsy of the left hard palate with palpation was also performed and again a diagnosis of MALT lymphoma was made. Further examinations at the Department of Internal Medicine of our hospital during hospitalization revealed a mass behind the left kidney in the retroperitoneal space. Biopsies for the mass performed under both ultrasonography and computer tomography (CT) did not provide enough tissue for histological diagnosis. The patient was referred to our department for further examination of the retroperitoneal mass. Retroperitoneal laparoscopic tumor resection was performed with the histological diagnosis of malignant lymphoma (B cell type). Following the tumor resection, chemotherapy (CHOP) was administered at the Department of Internal Medicine, with no evidence of tumor recurrence to date.
