Abstract
Gender Identity Disorder (GID) should be treated in a cooperative manner with a psychologist, a gynecologist, an urologist and a plastic surgeon working together as a team, making up what we call the Gender Clinic. And if possible, the treatment should be comprehensive with additional support from a social worker and a case worker. But there should also be an independent ethics committee to decide individual GID patient treatments and prevent Gender Clinic overreaching. Unfortunately, there are only a few institutions which meet our criteria throughout Japan. Under the present circumstances, we can not meet the needs of all GID patients. Of course, mastectomy for female to male transsexuals is one of the series of FIMTS' treatments. In this article I report my clinical experiences and knowledge about mastectomy for FTMTSs.
