Mechanisms of cancer escape from immunosurveillance

Understanding and overcoming mechanisms of cancer escape from immunosurveillance have long been a major focus of cancer immunotherapy. These escape mechanisms are very complex, including cancer-derived factors, factors derived from host cells surrounding cancer nests, and factors derived through the interaction between cancer cells and host cells in the hypoxic state. This report mainly describes recent various immunosuppressive factors. Cancer immunotherapy will be best performed concomitantly with mechanisms blocking cancer escape.
