Abstract
The necessary and sufficient conditions for 2-dimensional discrete-time systems described by the signum function to be stable are investigated. Continuous or discrete-time system equations of dimension n were studied extensively. The stability problem as well as various properties such as existence of limit cycles, the number of equilibrium points have been particularly studied. A simple 2-dimensional system is described by means of the signum function as a nonlinear function, and the necessary and sufficient conditions for it to be stable are shown.
