Abstract
In order to evaluate the stiffness change of living body before/after the massage, the biomechanical impedance of shoulder and back were measured. The biomechanical impedance change was compared between manual massage by masseur and machinery massage by massage-chair. In the case of manual massage, the masseur massaged in consideration of the stiffness balance of the whole body. Almost the muscle got soft in keeping balance. In the case of machinery massage, the massaged muscle also got soft. It was clarified that the effectiveness of massage can be evaluated objectively as change of muscle stiffness by quantitative stiffness.
