Abstract
Two-dimensional antiferromagnetic order has been detected in a single crystal of MnTiO3 by measurements of magnetic susceptibility and by neutron diffraction techniques. Quasielastic magnetic scattering resulting from two-dimensional order was found above the Néel temperature (TN = 64°K). From 64°K to 56°K the sublattice moment follows a (TN - T)β law with β = 0.32 ± 0.01 as in a three-dimensional antiferromagnet. This is contrasted with the result for K2NiF4 which is considered to be a typical two-dimensional antiferromagnet.
