    Abstract

In this paper, we introduced Kanizsa triangle figures equipped with stripe notches on its inducers to experimental participants. It is obtained that illusion contour depends on the location and direction of the stripe notches. If notches were on the edge or at inner part of inducers, participants reported less magnitude of the contour illusion. These results suggest that there were plenty of room to consider the mechanism of Kanizsa triangle illusion by paying attention to the information which local inducer carries referring to global functional property.
