Abstract

To heat an uniformly imploded deuterated polystyrene shell target, Petawatt laser illumination timing is scanned from the implosion, through stagnation to expansion or disruption phases. After 80 ± 20 picosecond from the onset of the stagnation phase but yet within it, thermal neutrons are four times enhanced from l × 106. The timing exactly agrees with that of X-ray emission from the core. In the stagnation phase, beam fusion neutrons reduced to 1.5 times the thermal one. Temporal behaviours of Bremsstrahlung due to hot electrons and laser backscatterings support the the timing.
