Abstract

We have studied structural and vibrational properties of Ca-doped lead titanate ceramics. The vibrational soft modes associated with the ferroelectric phase transition have been observed. A1(1TO) mode, which is one of the soft modes, has four subpeaks due to anharmonicity. Composition and temperature dependences of subpeak frequencies of the A1(1TO) mode behaves as expected from theoretical calculation. Some subpeaks remain above the Curie temperature. This is attributed to the point detects and the internal strain.
