Abstract
We evaluated 70 eyes of 35 patients with atopic dermatitis regarding the aqueous flare and cells using a laser flare-cell meter. The aqueous flare in 15 eyes with atopic cataract was significantly higher than in 55 eyes without cataract (Mann Whitney's U-text, p = 0.0008). The finding suggests that breakdown of blood-aqueous barrier underlies in the development of cataract in atopic dermatitis.
