Abstract
We experienced two cases of renal arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Case 1 was a 69-year-old woman. During close inspection for microhematuria, a large AVM was discovered in the left kidney by computed tomography. Because of the high volume of arteriovenous shunts, treatment by interventional radiology (IVR) was difficult. We performed left nephrectomy to treat the AVM. Case 2 was a 53-year-old woman. Her chief complaint was dull pain of the left lower quadrant. A cystic mass (5 cm) was detected in front of the right kidney by computed tomography. We diagnosed it as right renal AVM by MR imaging. By MR imaging, two right renal arteries were found and the bloodstream of the AVM was from the upper right renal artery. Most of the parenchyma of the right kidney was supplied by the lower right renal artery. Accordingly, we performed upper right renal vascular emobilization to treat the AVM whilst retaining the right renal function.
