Abstract

Charge transfer complexes of bis(ethylenediselena)-tetrathiafulvalene (BEDSe-TTF) with a variety of Fn-TCNQ (n = 1, 2, 4, including isomers) are synthesized. In this family, only F1-TCNQ afforded a conducting complex. Other acceptors gave mixed stack insulators, which undergo antiferromagnetic phase transitions. 2,5-F2- and 2,3-F2-TCNQ also yielded a polymorph with a novel type of crystal structure, showing a double-chain donor arrangement.
