Abstract

A novel mononuclear iron(II) complex of a 1,2,3-triazolecontaining ligand, [FeIILPh](NTf2)2 [LPh: tris(2-{[(1-phenyl- 1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methylidene]amino}ethyl)amine and NTf2: bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide], was synthesized. The complex shows a gradual one-step spin crossover at around room temperature with T1/2 = 280 K. The complex cations, [FeIIL Ph]2+, are linked via CH/π and ππ interactions forming a two-dimensional layer. The cationic layers are linked together by NTf2- ions via CH·X (X= N, O, and F) hydrogen-bonding interactions to form an extended three-dimensional structure.
