Abstract
The basic concept and system architecture of a service-enhanced 1. 5-GHz-band SCPC-FDMA digital mobile radio telecommunication system with 16. 8-kb/s transmission bit rate and 25-kHz channel spacing are presented and discussed. Three types of information channels, i. e. digital voice, facsimile, and data channels, are provided in order to offer effective mobile radio telematique services of appropriate transmission quality and information bit rate in a same service area. A 7-cell multiplied by 3-sector layout using frequency channel interleaving and sectored antennas is proposed to improve spectrum efficiency and also to overcome the larger propagation loss in the 1. 5-GHz frequency region.
