note = "Funding Information: This Special Issue “Advances in Fungal Virus Research” of Virus Research largely highlights research topics related to fungal viruses (or mycoviruses) discussed in the symposium. The Third International Mycovirus Symposium (IMS) was held at the University of Vermont, August 2–4, 2014, Burlington, VT, USA with financial support from Elsevier and the University of Rutgers. The symposium was organized by Drs. Angus Dawe (University of New Mexico), Nobuhiro Suzuki (Okayama University) and Bradley I. Hillman (Rutgers University) and comprised three keynote lectures by three leading scientists, Drs. Donald L. Nuss (University of Maryland), Reed B. Wickner (National Institute of Health) and Said A. Ghabrial (University of Kentucky) and 29 regular talks. Its program is available from http://www.rib.okayama-u.ac.jp/pmi/IMSIII.html . The IMS can be traced back to the relatively small meeting that took place in Kurashiki, back in 2008. Since then a series of meetings with a similar scope has been held every three years. ",
