Abstract

The paper presents a three-phase PWM AC to DC converter that employs an inductive energy transfer mechanism (DC reactor), so that the step-up and step-down characteristics of the output voltage can be easily obtained. The source current can be sinusoidally waveshaped with an unity power factor by means of the proposed PWM control strategy based on the equalizing area method (EAM). A simple and practical input filter design are proposed. Then, waveforms of voltages and currents, input, output and dynamic characteristics are discussed by the computer simulation.
